His Side of the Story...

Stephanie and I met about 14 years ago.  One of my best friends had neighbors he hung out with and wanted me to come by and hang out. We all started going out and partying and those friends had friends. Little did I know I would meet my future in this little diverse group of people.  When we would go out Stephanie and I would laugh and talk to each other very seldom, but we would smile and gaze at each other.  When we would hang out it was very hard not to look at a slender-framed,  light skinned goddess with a pretty smile that would light up the room.  We lost a mutal friend in a car accident and lost touch after that.

After 5 years and getting a new job, I was at one of the local schools and who do I see walking with her kids, Stephanie Glover.  I was speechless!  I finished my work on the campus and had to find her room to make sure it was her.  It was!  I couldn't believe that she was still in Nacgodoches after all these years.  I didn't go back to the campus for the rest of the year and didn't see her again.

A few years later I was at another local school campus working on computers and who did I see, Stephanie Glover.  Now she was Stephanie Bates, she had gotten married.  That didn't stop me from speaking this time about old times and giving her my numbers for tech support.  We spoke that night, and I find out she was divorced; hooray for me.  We started dating and you all know the rest.

Her Side of the Story...

Greg and I met about 14 years ago. We had a mutual friend and ended up in the same group of "party friends". At the time, we were each in our own situations, but I had an immediate crush on him! Light skin...hazel eyes...gorgeous smile...c'mon, what's NOT to love! Unfortunately, Greg and I rarely spoke! I felt like I couldn't put a complete thought together when the opportunity to talk to him would come around. So we existed on, "Hey, how are you?" and "What's up?". A year or so after meeting, we lost our friend in a car accident and Greg and I ended up losing touch.

About 5 years later, I had graduated from college and was teaching. Who should happen to walk in my classroom door one day but a hazel-eyed blast from the past! With sweaty hands and armpits, I managed to have a REAL conversation with Greg. Fate would have it that he was divorced, however I was newly engaged to be married! That was the last time I would see Greg for quite a while.

Fast-forward another 5 years, I was working at a new campus and loving the single-life with my 4 boys! Who should happen to walk in my classroom door, yet again, but the one-and-only Greg Burns! Talk about being COMPLETELY speechless! We had a quick catch-up session in front of an audience of 22 4th graders and exchanged numbers before he walked out of the room! You know, just in case I needed technology assistance! I texted him that afternoon- August 30- and here we are 2 1/2 years later!

I truly believe God had a plan for Greg and I. The times that we found each other and lost contact were His way of saying, "Be patient. It's not time yet." Our lives apart have made us ready for our lives together and I can not WAIT to continue down this road with the person God created specially for me.
